Meet Your Coach | MIKE HAGOPIAN

By: 0

Our team of coaches is expanding! This is Mike. He’s been training at CFE since the spring of 2018, but his CrossFit journey started long before that. Actually long before CFE even existed. Mike is a model of what consistency, hard work and the right attitude can achieve in and out of the gym. He’s a family man who still finds time to get his fitness in, and he’s looking forward to passing along his years of experience to the community in his classes. Over the coming weeks you’ll see him transitioning from athlete to coach-athlete so take a moment to read on and hear a little more about Mike in his own words…

WHAT DO YOU SPECIALIZE IN?
Fathering daughters. 😂

WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT?
My family#1, friends, fitness, and staying active.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT COACHING AT CFE?
Helping members achieve their fitness goals.

WHAT IS YOUR ATHLETIC BACKGROUND?
I grew up playing sports straight through college.  I’ve been involved with weight lifting and training for sports since highschool, and actually became introduced to CF back in 2011.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO CFE?
Once I moved up to NH, I quickly got tired of the regular gyms around the area, and felt like I was ready to get back into CF, so I checked out a bunch of the local gyms, and CFE really caught my eye.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF YOUR CROSSFIT JOURNEY SO FAR?
I was in a car accident back in 2014, which prevented me from doing so much regarding CF, that I actually had to stop going, and focus on my rehab.  The hardest part was pulling back from workouts or movements that I knew I shouldn’t do, but my mind was saying “go for it”.  (And anything overhead).

HOW DID YOU END UP A CROSSFIT COACH?
Like anything I get interested in, I dive into it head first, and want to understand as much as I can.  When it came to CF, I wanted to understand more than just workouts, but how they work together, how things compliment each other, the reasoning behind the methods, and what I can do to improve my approach.  After that, I wanted to help share that with other people I was working out with, and it led itself to get into the coaching side, and to go about doing that in the correct way.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?
My family loves all outdoor activities, so anything outside and active.

WHAT GOALS DO YOU HAVE ON THE HORIZON?
To have 3 or 4 more kids.

IF YOU HAD TO EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Tough call, but maybe breaded chicken thighs and roasted veggies.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE OR TV SERIES?
Outside of the classic/standard answers like Braveheart and Topgun, Spygame is my pick.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE?
“No rep”- Kevin Shangraw.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
JT is actually my dad.
